What Makes a Good Digital Job Card
Not every "digital" job card is actually an improvement. A few things separate a genuinely useful one from a form that just moved onto a screen.
It works without signal
Field work often happens somewhere connectivity is unreliable. A job card that stops working the moment signal drops isn't actually solving the problem.
It's faster to fill in than paper, not slower
If it takes longer to complete on a phone than it did on paper, it will get skipped or filled in badly. The best digital job cards are quicker, not just different.
It only asks for what's actually needed
Every extra field is a reason for someone in the field to rush through it or leave it blank. A good job card is scoped tightly to what the business actually uses afterwards.
It doesn't require training to use
If someone needs a manual to fill in a job card, it's too complicated. It should be obvious on first use.
The record is actually usable afterwards
The point isn't just capturing the data — it's that office staff can find, search, and use it without extra work.
